Over 30 members of the Kenyan defence college have acknowledged the big brother status of the Nigerian military on the Continent.
Made up of 30 students and 5 directing staff led by Major General MK Ongoinyi, the Kenyan college commandant, the group visited 1 Division HQ in Kaduna in their college’s routine study tour and expressed satisfaction over the operational activities of the Nigerian Army’s premier armoured division.
In his remark, General Ongoinyi said that the study tour was aimed at acquainting the students on the activities of the NA’s 1 Div with a view to widening their knowledge about the division and the Nigerian Army.
He said, “That knowledge will go a long way to integrate security delivery efforts of Kenya and Nigeria for purposes of improving national development.”
General Ongoinyi further revealed that the visit will enable his team to learn from 1 Division. “My team will actually learn a lot here to increase our general feeling of brotherhood with Nigeria as a big brother.”
Commander, NA’s 51 Signals Brigade, Brigadier General AA Ayannuga received the team on behalf of the GOC, 1 Div, Major General DH Ali-Keffi, and briefed them accordingly on the activities of the division.
General Ayannuga said, “It is quite an honour to have the students and directing staff of the Defence Staff College of Kenya here in our division. I can assure you that what you will learn here today go a long way to address part of your research efforts.”
Later, the deputy chief of staff (G3), Lieutenant Colonel BI Amajuoyi, gave a screen demonstration of an NA infantry division designed to further enrich the Kenyan team’s store of knowledge.
