The member representing Gombi/Hong federal constituency of Adamawa State, Dr Yusuf Buba Yakub, has described the recent attack on Kwapre village by a large contingent of suspected Boko Haram terrorists as a senseless act of terrorism carried out by a bunch of cowards who sneak into peaceful settlements to kill and maim peace-loving inhabitants.
“This is a cruel and senseless act of cowardice on a community that is renowned for peace, industry and serenity,” he said.
Honourable Yakub, who is House Committee chairman on Foreign Affairs, lamented that the attack on Kwapre, a community in Garaha Ward of Hong LGA was one of a series of terrorist attacks in his constituency, and called on his people to be vigilant so as to prevent future occurrence of Boko Haram incursions in the area.
In a statement signed by his special adviser on media and public affairs, the lawmaker condoled with all those who lost loved ones in the attack and assured the people that all those abducted during the attack will soon be rescued and reunited with their families.
He said, “I have an unwavering faith in the victory of good over evil, therefore people should please, remain calm in the face of this mindless act of terrorism as this would be the very last.”
Describing it as the last flame of a dying fire, Yakub, therefore, called on the government and all security agencies in the country to redouble efforts to ensure that the Kwapre community and all parts of his constituency are adequately protected from further attacks.
