Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru, the army chief, has said that he will not tolerate illegal duties from any personnel of the Nigerian Army and charged officers and men of the service to be thoroughly professional by keying into the vision he has for the army to emplace an army that will defeat all adversaries.

The Chief of Army Staff gave the charge at the 6 Division HQ, Port Harcourt when he visited to familiarize himself with the division headquarters and the units and formations under it.

Addressing officers, General Attahiru reiterated that by his command philosophy of readiness to deliver efficient service, loyalty to the commander in chief of the armed forces and the nation, dependability in the accomplishment of all tasks in line with the norms and core values of the service, and continuous development of the Nigerian Army, he will ensure a speedy defeat of all insurgent movements. He, therefore, ordered the army officers and men to follow him closely.

He said that development, especially, in leadership is one which officers cannot do without because they are commanders at various levels in which they find themselves. At the 6 Division HQ, the army boss charged commanders and their subordinates not to engage in any form of illegal duties as he will not tolerate anything like that.

At the 29 Battalion parade ground, the COAS addressed the land component soldiers of Operation Delta Safe and assured the troops of his readiness to properly address all the challenges they face.

He urged the troops to remain loyal and professional in discharging their duties, adding that he will not hesitate to commend outstanding soldiers and punish erring ones among them.

He thereafter flagged off the reconstruction of the 29 Battalion barracks which was gutted by fire some years back.

Concluding his tour, The army boss visited the Governor of River State, Nyesom Woke, who commended him for his firm military training and leadership role, adding that with Attahiru’s exposure and rich knowledge base, things will change in the ongoing counterinsurgency operation and the general security architecture of the nation.
