Obaseki’s Certificate Forgery: Triumph of Reason and Common Sense (Final Part)

Date:

It is no longer news that the Abuja High Court has cleared Godwin Obaseki of any wrongdoing in the false charges brought against him by his arch-foes. The battle arguably one of the fiercest political war so far in the 21st century could be likened to that between a lion and the Buffalo. For those who have seen a real fight between the two in the jungle, you will understand that it is bound to be anything but bloody.

Normally, there is no truce in such fight; either you are killed outright or beaten to a state of stupor. Obaseki showed himself to be adept and on top of the game. He exhibited skills which dumfounded his enemies, shot down the former national chair and consigned him to “political Siberia”. Many of you may have been deceived that what happened in Edo State was civilized; wrong. If not the jungle, how else for someone they know actually went to the university, yet dragged to court to be crucified?

This can only happen in the jungle—not a civilized world!  But Obaseki mesmerized them showing himself to be in the mound of famous 15th century Benin warriors like late Generals Asoro, Ogiobo, Iken of Uselu and Prince Obuabu to mention few; these gallant men in their days fought the British to a standstill. The British were colonial powers just like those who fought against Obaseki are advocates of repression seeking to enslave the Benin people.

Edo people are simply lucky that the Courts have come to their rescue. Otherwise, it would have been impossible for the “wake and see” governor to prevent them. Having defeated his enemies Mr Godwin Obaseki has now been promoted from “wake and see” to “pepper them” governor. His traducers would now watch rapid development while gritting their teeth in shame. But the grim situation is not over yet, there is still work to do.  No Lion or Buffalo calls it quit.

They only retreat into the bush to lick their wounds—growling in the process.  But the good news here is that even if they regroup, they will still be thrashed. This is simply the triumph of reason and common sense. The same common sense that blindfolded those 14 legislators to hide away at Zeus Hotel in Abuja on the instructions of their then idol—the former national chair, waiting for Obaseki to be caged. The same applies to the Kabaka’s and his band of fellow mercenaries who promised hell.

And of course, those who resigned their lucrative jobs to follow the same route in the hope of throwing Obaseki out in the cold. How could they not have seen the handwriting on the wall? Were they blindfolded?  It must be a lack of common sense. Well, a good one for Obaseki:  from a political neophyte, thoroughly baked and incubated by vicious enemies has now graduated to political heavyweight and invariably defender of our nascent democracy. He is lucky the gods are working for him. They say those who dig pits for others end up falling into the same pit.

While Obaseki escaped the trap set for him by his wicked detractors, not so for his opponent Gani Audu who was indicted for certificate forgery! His main man Osaze Ize Iyamu has not yet learnt to make peace with his brother Obaseki. He is a pastor and according to records, with many years of experience; has it not occurred to him that this power thing is “not by might nor by strength”? Let him go and read Psalm 62: 11 and tell me what he found. Power is from God and He gives it to whoever he is pleased with.  And finally, advice to Obaseki: Improve your communication with people. Surprise people, reach out to them; that’s where your happiness lies, and never stop blessing them. This is the only way
