Edo 2020: Cleric Warns Against the Use of Force during the September Elections

A frontline Abuja based cleric Prophet Segun Aborinwa has advised against the use of Federal Might in the forthcoming September 19 Edo Governorship elections. The cleric, Prophet Segun disclosed during a mammoth Sunday service at his Mararaba Church Headquarters.  He said God showed him a vision that some mischievous elements were planning to use “other” means to “win” the elections for the APC candidate. “I see it clearly that the will of the people are about to be subverted”, he stated. “But I advise them to desist from it because God has his plans for the people of Edo State”, he further stated. He cautioned the desperation of trying to size the State at all cost because that is not the wish of the people. “God has anointed Godwin Obaseki, the incumbent governor to continue in office and he will be re-elected whether the opposition likes it or not”, he declared. He also warned those who describe themselves as “lions” and ‘tigers” not to turn the State into a theatre of violence. “You may be a tiger or lion, what we know is that you place of abode is the bush not with human beings”, he said, adding that “we do not want wild animals in our midst”. But this vision may not go down well with the likes of Comrade Adams Oshiomole who is bent on foisting his will on the people of Edo State. Comrade Oshiomole in furtherance of that bid has “drafted” a scion of the soil Alhaji Muhammed Mustapha Lecky, whom he helped installed as commissioner in INEC to do the “dirty job” for him. He has, according to reports been running here and there to “fill”  the electoral space with, as some allege, military and police personnel to scare away genuine voters. But the cleric speaking further declared that on that day, they will all be powerless. “Have you seen where human beings are more powerful than God?” he asked. Prophet Segun revealed that they may have their plans, but God has already laid out His and nothing can change it. “Pharaoh of Egypt held the people of Israel in bondage for many years, in the end, God had him drowned in the red sea when he refused to let his people go”, reminded Prophet Segun. “If Oshiomole refuses to let the Edo people vote their choice God will do the needful”, he added. “Oshiomole cannot be more powerful than the one who created him”, he concluded. Meanwhile, a group of Afemai youths under the aegis of Afemai Vanguard has called on Mustapha Lecky not to test their will by declaring a false result. “We know how you have been profiting from the system becoming Director, Director-General and now Commissioner in INEC”, they stated. “Please don’t exhaust that largesse by being used to usurp our collective ambition; our children have the right to good things just like you”, they told him adding that if they call it elections, why seek the help of outside forces by recruiting only officials loyal to APC? Would Mustapha hear? It remains to be seen.
