As promised, we now have a roadmap to September 19, governorship elections and where the wind is likely to blow. From the poll results, it is interesting for the first time, 75% of indigenes across the three senatorial districts are going to vote alongside character, integrity and morality. The poll results shows starkly an overwhelming rejection of the influence of Federal Might; Â The respondents say, they are not going to be swayed or misled by the presence of security forces. 15% admits that they are still undecided while an insignificant 5% said they cannot be bothered.
In this category, the incumbent governor Godwin Obaseki clearly won the hearts of the people. A good number of the respondents floored his opponent Pastor Osaze Iyamu as low in terms of morality, integrity and character. In fact, 65% of the respondents were emphatic that Pastor Ize Iyamu was not coming to serve their interest—but that of a select few. 45% dismissed his claims to honesty, discipline, arguing that he has nothing to offer Edo State! In another department of performance and transparency, the respondents scored Obaseki 85% for being honest, transparent and a performing governor; while a tiny minority of 10% has anything to say on Pastor Ize Iyamu. 5% cannot be bothered who is upright or not.
In terms of conspiracy theory and betrayal, the poll outcome was hard on Pastor Ize Iyamu, with 65% of respondents describing him as a man after stomach infrastructure! 35% think that their expectations will not be served under Pastor Ize Iyamu describing him further as a mere stooge. Again as to whether incumbency factor would play any role, only 45% nodded in affirmative; 55% say, Obaseki’s performance will speak more for him that his incumbency factor.
The remaining 5% remained blank. Amazingly, 65% of respondents remembered that Ize Iyamu has a corruption case to answer; 35% agreed that he is not even a member of the APC and is likely to be dismissed before the real Election Day! 5% say they are not happy with his serial carper crossing, meaning that he has no single thought for the people. Incredibly, a whopping 95% said a vote for Ize Iyamu was a vote for a return to thuggery, double taxation, extortion and all the sick vices characteristic of the previous administration. Here, the respondents are in total agreement that Pastor Ize Iyamu should be thoroughly rejected at the polls! In Part Two, you will read of the outcomes of the pattern of respondents on the influence of Oshiomole, the Lagos factor, the composition of APC campaign team; insecurity in the land, and lastly the motivating catalyst for voting decisions, etc.
