No Rift between Oshiomole and Obaseki Says Prince Tony Momoh

Date:

Prince Tony Momoh, one time federal minister of Information, lawyer and renowned journalists has allayed any fears of rift between Comrade Adams Oshiomole and Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State. “You people are the ones creating the feud between the two leaders “, he declared.

Speaking to our reporters during an interactive session, Prince Momoh described as sheer hubris the bitterly accusations and the gale of suspensions. “ Godwin Obaseki is the political leader of APC in Edo State by virtue of his being the Governor; while Comrade Adams Oshiomole is the National Chairman of APC; there is no issue here”, he stressed. “Adams has no business with who takes the party ticket or not; he is not the one to determine Obaseki’s fate”, he added. “Infact, Edo State APC should be looking for favors from Oshiomole at the national level, not to quarrel”, he said. “I don’t see any problem there; I have spoken to both leaders and they are very civil about the whole issue”, he further stated.

Asked about the almost daily exchange of angry words, the veteran journalists explained that those were the handiwork of fifth columnists who strive to profit from non-existent brouhaha. He also said he is at odds to understand those calling Pastor Osaze Ize Iyamu names for decamping to APC describing it as “welcome back home”. Osaze was part and parcel of what APC is today having been there from the inception, so he is just coming back home”.

On the part of the 14 renegade legislators who refused to go back to their posts, Prince Momoh said they are to blame for loss of their seats. “The constitution is clear on that: after 181 days consecutive absence you will lose your seat that’s simple”, he said. Now, the clerk of Edo State House Assembly has declared their seats vacant and written to INEC for a bye-election to be conducted. “If you want to fight the governor, you stood a better chance doing so from within and not outside.

They were elected by the people to serve; now you can see the fate that has befallen them”, he concludes.
