Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has authorised the dismissal of 250 aides including Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants spread across the 18 local governoments and 192 wards of the State.
In a statement, Mr. Osarodion Ogie, the Secretary to the State Government said the dismissals were in effort to reorganise the governance structure to enhance efficiency in service delivery to the state.
The SSG said fresh appointments will made made withing 30 days. But unconfirmed reports say the move was part of efforts by the governor to consolidate his grip on power ahead of his nomination for the second term.
It wold be recalled that the governor has been embroiled in a deadly power strugglr with his predecessor in office and it is anybody’s guess where the power is swinging.
