Professor Aliyu Jauro, Director-General/CEO NESREA has been given an award for his noble and distinguished support for Youths in Nigeria as well as his tireless effort to sanitize the environment sector.
The Group, Northern Youths Council of Nigeria headed by Barrister Farouk Muhammed showered praises on the Director-General dubbing him variously as “General”, “Commander”, “Doctor”, “Professor” and handed him certificate of credence and certificate of confirmation as the Wakilin Matasan Arewa meaning “Northern Youth Ambassador”. They also described him as icon of Nation building.
Responding, Prof. Jauro briefed the Youths of efforts to stem flood, drought and desertification in the North, explaining that there is serious need for sensitization and creation of awareness.
Prof. Jauro emphasized the need for tree planting campaign as well as caution against indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
He warned against bad environmental practices explaining the need to guard against yellow fever outbreak and Malaria which he observed are prevalent in the North.
The Director-General while calling for good hygiene, use of mosquito nets asked the Youths to join the NESREA Green Corps Vanguard to enthrone environmental best practices.
