A frontline social services group, named Relevancy Global Services Limited has announced various awards to some prominent Nigerians for their peaceful conduct in restoring sanity and good governance to Nigeria. Among those named are Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Chief Odigie Oyegun, former All Progressive Congress (APC) National Chairman, Secretary to the Government Boss Mustapha, Senator Francis Alimikhena, Hon. Johnson of the House of Representatives and Former governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode. Â
The group specializing in recognizing hardworking Nigerians who have excelled in their own right said the awards were in special recognition of the huge role the recipients played especially in the drive towards the successful conclusion of the last general elections. Chief Odigie Oyegun was nominated for the award by reason of his expert handling of the leadership transition in APC which brought in the combative Adams Oshiomole.
Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode was nominated for his rare display of quietude even in the face of extreme provocation by opposing groups. “Ambode could have formed a parallel APC during the primaries like his mates do, but he didn’t although he had the powers; he could have also closed down the Assembly like it was done in Port Harcourt by Amaechi during his time, but he didn’t; He had various options to checkmate his opponents but he considered Lagos first and opted to maintain peace’, stated the group’s president, Prince Ebri Ukagu.
The award will soon be communicated to the recipient shortly and the date of decoration announced nationwide. Each of the awardees are expected to attend the ceremony personally or send their representative as they would be allocated with a golden table each attracting a modest contribution of One million naira.
